Dodger’s Season Recap (Updated Every Series)

It’s been a stellar season so far for the 2020 Dodgers. They’ve easily been the top team in baseball and so far have withstood all curveballs that have been thrown their way. The latest being Turner on the IL.

they’re the only team in MLB who hasn’t lost a series. Their run differential of +98 is about twice as much as second place. And they broke the NL single month home run record.

Mookie is in the MVP race and turn Barnes into a whole new player. Bellinger found his swing in August. Kershaw looks like 2014 Kershaw and is probably an official Cy Young Candidate with Darvish and Fried.

The Bullpen is currently pitching like one of the best in history. Seager and Pollock are healthy and coming back with a vengeance. And Max Muncy has seemed to right the ship recently.

Now, even Will Smith seems to be moving in the right direction towards his expected stats.

Last Series

D-Backs (0) @ Dodgers (3)

Dodgers swept what was left of the D-Backs after the trade deadline. Urias (3), Jansen (2), and Kershaw (5) earned the wins.

Game 1:

Dodgers win 6-3

Urias finally got through a scoreless first inning and it really paid off. Jansen also earned a save this last series for his 10th of the year. Alex Wood also made his first appearance off the IL. He struck out 2 in a scoreless inning of work for his first taste of the bullpen.

Taylor was the player of the game with 2 doubles and 4 of the Dodger’s 6 RBI.

Game 2:

Dodgers win 3-2

Buehler pitched a beautiful 5 scoreless innings against a dueling Gallen. But because of the blisters he just recovered from, Roberts pulled him early. Gallen wound up going 7 , 1 hit, scoreless innings against a very tough Dodger lineup.

Dodgers were down 1-0 going into the Bottom of the 9th, when Mookie blasted a solo bomb to push the game to extras.

Jansen struggled through the 10th with a runner placed on second. He got the first out but preceded to walk Calhoun, hit Marte, and walk Walker on a questionable full count call. He did not give up an earned run and maybe shouldn’t have given up a run at all. Still after Christian Walker walked in a run, Jansen got the next two batters with a pop up and then a strikeout.

Jansen won it on a Will Smith walk off, after a costly error on Chris Taylor’s sac bunt.

Game 3:

Dodgers win 5-1

Kershaw pitched a no-hitter into the 6th inning. Christian Walker broke it up with 2 outs on a bad throw from Kike for an infield single. But Kershaw couldn’t be upset after lowering his ERA to 1.50 on the year and getting his 2,500 career strikeout on a classic Kershaw Curve.

Dodgers took an early 2-0 lead in the first, after a rally started by Seager, and never looked back. Seager went on to finish the night with 3 hits raising his batting average to a team leading .323. Pollock also crushed a solo bomb in a pinch hitting appearance to further torment his former team.
